The sophomore, who came to BC as a high-profile recruit who was meant to rejuvenate the Eagles' running game, completed his paperwork on Wednesday and is officially no longer a member of the BC community, according to Boston.com.
But the Maryland native has no bitter feelings.
"I want to go to a bigger school, with a little more people," said Haden, whose brother plays football at Florida. "Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Boston College, but it wasn't the right school for me. I would never tell anyone not to come here, but it just wasn't for me. I wasn't having the time I imagined I would."
Maybe he should've thought of that before the tattoo.
Haden has lost significant playing time to classmate Montel Harris, who emerged last year as BC's star running back and overtook Haden on the depth chart soon thereafter. However, Haden insists his reasons for transferring have more to do with the school itself and the injuries that were beginning to wear him down, mentally and physically.
"I talked to my dad [last year] and he said to try and stay in school for another year," Haden said. "But another year came and then I was hurt. I had all kinds of injuries to my pinkie, my wrist, my ankle."
Although Eagles head coach Frank Spaziani tried to convince Haden to take more time to think about his decision, he elected to start thinking about what the future holds.
"I could go to another school and redshirt a year, and then I would still have two years [of eligibility] left," he said. "My options are open."
