Bill James Wins Judge Emil Fuchs Memorial Award

Red Sox senior advisor of baseball operations Bill James has been named the 2009 winner of the Judge Emil Fuchs Memorial Award by the Boston Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

The award will be presented on Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Westin-Waterfront Hotel in South Boston. Previous winners of the award include Henry Aaron, Commissioner Bud Selig, Red Sox Hall of Fame outfielder Jim Rice, union leader Marvin Miller and broadcaster Ernie Harwell.

Other awards honorees who will attend the dinner are Lou Merloni, winner of the ex-Red Sox Award, and Casey Kelly, who will receive the Greg Montalbano Award for Sox minor leaguers.
