There isn't a lot of developing a rookie can do if he's stuck on the bench for the majority of his first season, and that's the unfortunate case for the C's lone rookie, Lester Hudson.
The Celtics are planning on sending the point guard to the Maine Red Claws of the D-League to get some quality playing time in his first professional year of hoops. Hudson, the 58th pick in this year's draft, has just 49 minutes of playing time in 13 games this season. He is averaging 0.8 points, 0.4 assists and 0.4 rebounds per game.
“He’s on a very good team where it’s very difficult to get minutes, but that hasn’t sidetracked his work,” head coach Doc Rivers told the Boston Herald. “We’re going to send him down pretty soon to the NBDL for a week or so to get him some games, because I don’t like our young guys going these long stretches without playing games. And then we’re going to bring him back. I think that will help him.”
