David Koci Throws a Hit on John Erskine To play in the NHL, you need passion. It takes a certain level of energy to skate into the corners and lay a hit on an opponent.

David Koci of the Colorado Avalanche, however, makes it look like a piece of cake as he puts a hit on Washington’s John Erskine.

It was Erskine and the Caps that had the last laugh, however, as Washington would win 6-1 and Koci would be assessed 20 minutes of penalties for boarding Mike Green, fighting Erskine and being given a 10-minute misconduct.

When looking at that list, maybe the hit in the corner really was no big deal.

One of the downsides to the Internet is the lack of face-to-face communication. Fortunately, one NESN.com reader is taking the time to offer helpful advice to a fellow Red Sox fan.

“ANOTHER HAS BEENR A WAS, IF WE COULD RATE A PLAYER FROM 1-10 1 STINKS 10 BEING GREAT I WOULD RATE JOHNSON 4 REASON WHY WAS HE TRADED SO MUCH? WHATS THE REAL STORY? BUT I KNOW WHO WOULD BE TICKLED PINK AND THATS KEVIN P THE YANKEE CLOSET FAN.”
