"We're 7-4, you know?" the New England quarterback told Boston.com on Wednesday. "We're ahead two games in the division. The season is not lost by any stretch. When you don't play good football, you lose games. I don't think that's a new revelation for any of us. When we don't play well, we lose. That's happened four times this year. We've also won seven games. We got five games left. The season isn't decided yet at all."
Brady had one of his worst performances of the season on Monday night against the Saints, throwing for 237 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Drew Brees threw for 371 yards, five touchdowns and zero picks.
Brady knows he and his squad have to step it up. He's no longer mourning Monday's loss, but he's not making excuses, either.
"We've got to use whatever emotions we had at the end of the game to understand those are the emotions you have when you don't play well," Brady told the Web site. "Hopefully, we don't feel that way again. We've got to move forward to Miami, who's a tough opponent."
Focus will be key for the Patriots as they attempt to halt a 1-2 skid and continue making a charge toward the AFC East title. And in order to focus on the future, everyone needs to stop focusing on the past.
"I know everyone wants to talk about last week's game, but that was last week's game," he said. "I'm not so concerned with last week's game at this point. I've moved on to Miami. The mourning period is over."
