Everyone knew Monday night's matchup between the Patriots and the Saints would be one of the most-watched football events of the year. What many didn't expect was that it would be one of the most-watched cable telecasts ever.

According to WBZ, the Saints' win over New England was the second most-watched cable telecast of all time.

About 21.4 million viewers tuned in to ESPN for Monday's game, which was second only to the 21.8 million fans who tuned in for Brett Favre's return to Green Bay on Oct. 5, when the Packers played the Vikings. The game achieved a 15.0 rating, the second highest in ESPN's 30-year history.

In New Orleans, the game earned a 66.7 rating between the ESPN broadcast and the local NBC affiliate's broadcast.
