Report: Red Sox Offered Aroldis Chapman $15.5 Million The Red Sox have apparently wrapped up John Lackey for the next five seasons, but reports are indicating that Aroldis Chapman may have been on their radar well before the former Angels ace.

According to ESPN.com, the Red Sox offered the Cuban left-hander a $15.5 million deal while he was still represented by Edwin Mejia. The highly sought-after southpaw hurler is now represented by the Hendricks brothers, who told MLB teams that their client isn't accepting offers at this point.

Houston will host Chapman for a workout on Tuesday afternoon, and multiple teams will have scouts in attendance, including the Red Sox. This won't be the first time the Red Sox check out the prospect, as Chapman already had a personal workout with Boston earlier this fall.
