Four Patriots have been chosen to represent New England at this year's Pro Bowl.
As expected, quarterback Tom Brady made the squad, but he'll be headed to South Florida as a reserve for the Jan. 31 festivities. It is his fifth Pro Bowl selection.
Joining him will be guard Logan Mankins, wide receiver Wes Welker and nose tackle Vince Wilfork. Mankins and Wilfork will both start for the AFC squad. Randy Moss did not make the cut.
In 2009, Brady has accumulated 4,212 passing yards and 28 touchdowns. His five seasons with at least 25 touchdowns are tied with Drew Brees for the fifth-most in NFL history. This year was a milestone year for the quarterback, as he became the Patriots' all-time leading passer and became the 31st NFL player to throw for 30,000 yards.
Welker's 122 receptions are good for first in the NFL and also mark a single-season record in Patriots history. Welker joins Marvin Harrison, Jerry Rice, Herman Moore and Brandon Marshall as the only NFL players to catch 100 passes in at least three consecutive seasons.
This is Mankins' second Pro Bowl appearance and his first since 2007, when he became the first Patriots guard to earn a spot since John Hannah in 1985. Mankins is in the midst of his fifth season with New England after being selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2005 draft. He has started all 15 games in 2009.
Wilfork will also be making his second Pro Bowl appearance. He currently leads the Patriots' defensive line with 65 total tackles.
