Bruins, Rangers Share Eastern Conference Struggles The Bruins and Rangers have a lot in common these days — and it’s not all good. They rank 10th and eighth in the Eastern Conference, respectively, and are separated by just one point in the conference standings.

Besides having similar records, they also share similar problems on offense. The troubles are jeopardizing each team’s playoffs hopes.

The Bruins have been outscored 17-8 by opponents during a five-game losing streak.

The Rangers have scored three goals in a four-game losing streak.

Rangers center Vinny Prospal doesn’t understand why the team is struggling to score goals.

"There’s plenty of guys here who should score the goals, and we’re just not doing it,” Prospal told The New York Times.

Both teams are searching for solutions. The Bruins are looking at trade possibilities, but Rangers coach John Tortorella has another idea for his team.

"The best thing for us is to get out of town — the farther, the better,” Tortorella told the Times.

The Rangers are heading west for a three-game road trip. The Bruins will face the Sabres on Friday night in Buffalo.
