There's good news and bad news in regards to the Bruins' latest injury woes.

The bad: center Marc Savard may miss up to a month with a Grade 2 partial MCL tear in his right knee, according to the team. The good: The B's front-line center will not require surgery.

Savvy is the latest black and blue member of the Black and Gold as defenders Andrew Ference (groin — out six weeks) and Mark Stuart (sternum — out 2-3 weeks) are both on the shelf as well. Winger Byron Bitz is day-to-day with a back injury and is out for Saturday's game against the Rangers while center Patrice Bergeron is out for at least another two weeks with a broken thumb.

Savard suffered his knee injury in the first period against the Blackhawks on Jan. 7, the same night winger Milan Lucic returned from his high ankle sprain.
