Patriots Sign Wide Receiver to Practice Squad A replacement for Wes Welker? Well, no, but the Patriots have signed wide receiver Nick Moore to their practice squad, ESPNBoston.com reporter and NESN insider Mike Reiss reported via Twitter.

The Boston Herald's Ian Rapoport noted that practice squad receiver Darnell Jenkins was seen wearing a protective boot, so Moore is more likely a replacement for Jenkins than for Welker.

Moore, 23, made the announcement via his Twitter page, saying, "Its OFFICIAL..I'm a Patriot! Thanks for all the prayers an support everyone!!!" on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, he wrote that he was up early for his first day of practice.

A rookie out of the University of Toledo, Moore is the younger brother of Saints wide receiver Lance Moore. Nick was undrafted last year but signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He was released in mid-November without posting any statistics.

In college, Moore twice earned All-MAC honors and finished his collegiate career with 182 catches.
