Paul Pierce
underwent a second procedure on his infected right knee after the first procedure didn't clear the infection, The Boston Globe reports.

Pierce remains day-to-day, and the recent procedure won't keep him out of the lineup much longer than he was originally set to be out for.

"It's getting better," Pierce told the Globe. "I'm feeling pretty good. Right now it's day-to-day. There's no timetable on it."

Pierce has not started jogging yet since having the second procedure on Christmas night. However, the Celtics captain has been riding the exercise bike and has been doing a little shooting.

"I want to play when I'm ready," Pierce told the Globe. "Of course I want to play but you don't want to be dumb. You have to look at the longevity of it. I don't want to go out there and hobble around. I want to go out there when I'm ready and healthy."
