Red Sox Sign Veteran Reliever Brian Shouse to Minor League Deal The signings of Adrian Beltre, Mike Cameron, John Lackey and Bill Hall were all well-publicized, but somewhere in that mix, the Red Sox snuck the signing of lefty reliever Brian Shouse past just about everybody.

The team signed the 41-year-old on Jan. 4, according to the team's official transaction page. Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reported that it was a minor league deal, saying that Shouse will have an opportunity to make the major league roster with an invite to spring training.

In 467 career appearances (all in relief), Shouse is 13-10 with a 3.72 ERA and 1.326 WHIP. He's spent time on the Pirates, Red Sox (seven appearances in 1998), Royals, Rangers, Brewers and, most recently, the Rays. Last year in Tampa, Shouse was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 28 innings.
