Report: Andrew Ference Out Six Weeks With Groin Injury Another Bruin bites the dust.

Just days after Boston learned it would be without leading scorer Patrice Bergeron for at least two weeks, the team learned that defenseman Andrew Ference would be out for six weeks with a groin injury, according to Boston.com.

Ference sustained the injury in the first minute of the second period of Tuesday’s win over the Senators, when he was hit by Ottawa’s Chris Phillips.

In 2008-09, Ference missed the final nine games of the regular season along with most of the playoffs after injuring his ankle. This year, he has played in 42 games — just five less than he played in all of 2008-09 — and has registered five assists and a minus-3 rating.
