Report: Aroldis Chapman Could Sign This Week

The Aroldis Chapman watch could soon be coming to an end, as the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the free agent said he expects to sign "within the next three or four days."

The report adds that the Florida Marlins are still in the running for Chapman, hoping the high Cuban population in Southern Florida will help balance the fact that the Marlins are unlikely to make the most lucrative offer.

The Angels and Blue Jays appear to be the favorites, with a source telling the newspaper that the clubs have each offered Chapman about $21 million.

The Red Sox were one of the teams that sent a scout to watch the 22-year-old pitch in December, and they reportedly offered him a $15.5 million deal.
