The Ontario Hockey League suspended forward Zack Kassian 20 games for his high hit on Matt Kennedy earlier this month, but one reader feels that it’s not always just the hitters’ fault.

“Todays players must respect one another on the ice. It’s one thing to check a guy to move him off the puck or take him out of the play. It’s another when a guy is clearly in a vulnerable position to be utterly leveled. Even if it is because of his own stupidity. There is no way a guy playing major Junior A should be skating full tilt through the neutral zone looking back to play the puck,… Suicide!!! Heck, we learn that at the pee wee level.
Responsibility must be shared by both players involved in this incident or nothing will be learned here. The suspension is justified in the fact to send a message out to the players,… think when you are out there!!”
