Bostonian celebrities Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are known to represent their hometown on and off the big screens. Their upcoming work, however, will not feature dialogue peppered with the word "wicked."

According to the Boston Herald, the New England natives and Red Sox fans may dress in pinstripes. That's right — if the two go forward with a project as expected, they will be Yankees players in upcoming film The Trade.

Although the thought of Affleck and Damon in Yankees uniform may make most people in Red Sox Nation queasy, wondering if hell has actually frozen over, do not be so quick to write off Affleck and Damon for committing the most horrific act of treason. The actors are not complete traitors and still can do the Nation proud, because the premise is not your usual road-to-victory tale.

The Trade is about the biggest Yankees sex scandal in history. In the 1970s, New York pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich decided to swap wives. Affleck is expected to play Peterson, who fell in love with Kekich’s wife, Susanne Kekich, after the two men traded ladies on a whim. Affleck's real-life buddy, Damon, may sign on to be Kekich, who falls in love with Marilyn Peterson. These Bomber players eventually made the wife switch permanent.

"It wasn’t intended to be something dirty," the real-life Peterson told the Herald in August. "We weren’t bad people. We weren’t swingers. We were just high profile."

Fritz and Susanne are still together, but Mike and Marilyn called it quits after being hot and cold for years.

Affleck already is on board to direct the Warner Bros. movie, and Dave Mandel (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) is writing the script. Last year, the flick made the Black List of top-rated unproduced screenplays.
