The Boston Bruins announced Wednesday they have recalled goalie Matt Dalton from the ECHL's Reading (Pa.) Royals on an emergency basis.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli made the announcement after Team USA's win over Switzerland on Wednesday, as veteran Bruins netminder Tim Thomas will remain in Vancouver. Dalton will report to practice at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass.

The 23-year-old Dalton has posted a 16-18-2 record for the Royals with a 3.54 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. Dalton also has four starts under his belt with the AHL's Providence Bruins but is winless in all his starts, sporting a save percentage of .889 and a GAA of 3.98.

Dalton was signed as a free agent in April of 2009 after playing two seasons at Bemidji State University (Minn.), where his 2.29 GAA is the best in school history.
