Canadian TV Viewers Set All-Time Record

According to the Vancouver Sun, the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics drew 13 million Canadian viewers, a new national record.

Roughly 23 million Canadians viewed a portion of the opening ceremony that was broadcast in 11 languages.

The figure surpasses the previous record of 10 million viewers, set by the Olympic gold-medal hockey game between Canada and the United States at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

Another 33 million viewers watched the opening ceremony in the U.S. Vancouver's opening ceremony was the most-watched opening ceremony ever in the U.S. for a non-U. S. based Winter Games.
