Clay Buchholz Ready to Fight for Spot in Rotation

Clay Buchholz Ready to Fight for Spot in Rotation Clay Buchholz achieved considerably more success in 2009 than he did in 2008, and yet he finds himself in a very similar situation to the one he was in a year ago at this time.

The Red Sox have an excess of starting pitching, so the 25-year-old hurler finds himself fighting for a spot in the starting rotation once again.

“You have six guys that are fighting for five spots, so it’s sort of the same type of deal [as last season],” Buchholz said.

“Last year’s gone. I can forget about everything that happened last year. It was a good stepping stone, but at the same time, there’s stuff I have to do this year and I have to prove that I’m here to pitch in the five-man rotation for this team and help win another championship for the Red Sox.”

Find out what else the hurler had to say as he gets into the swing of spring training.
