Mark Recchi Earns Arbella Player of the Week Honors If ever there was a time that the Bruins needed some solid veteran leadership, it would be now.

With nine straight games without a win in the rear-view mirror, the leadership of a veteran like Mark Recchi will play an important role in making sure the future looks very different.

Recchi's been doing his part on the ice, scoring goals in two of the Bruins' last three games. In both games, the Bruins were able to earn a point, which is no small feat given their current state. The 42-year-old was flying around the ice on Thursday night against the Canadiens, registering seven shots on net and scoring on a power play to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

"There is a lot of good things going on here right now," Recchi said after the 3-2 shootout loss to the Canadiens. "When you have 90 shots in two games and you only have one point to show for, that is the frustrating part. There are so many other things that we're doing now and we have to keep that up now."

A veteran of more than 1,500 NHL games, Recchi will be an important part of keeping the team's spirits high.

"We have to keep a positive attitude now, we have to stick together," he said. "These are really tough times for us, but we have 27 games to get ourselves in the playoffs. We have to really, really stay with it here and if we can do this over the last five games before the break here and start building some momentum we can make a good run at it."
