With the official start of spring training just days away, the Red Sox still aren't sure what they're going to do with third baseman Mike Lowell.

Because of the addition of free agent Adrian Beltre, Lowell's days as the starting third baseman are over, but the club may consider moving him across the diamond to help Kevin Youkilis at first base, according to WEEI.com. Currently, Youkilis and catcher Victor Martinez are the only players on the roster with significant playing time at the bag.

"We're going to prepare for him to be an important part of this team," general manager Theo Epstein told WEEI.com. "Getting exposure at first base makes sense. We'll sit down and talk to him about that."
