On Friday, Celtics president and GM Danny Ainge denied rampant rumors that Boston was seriously considering trading Ray Allen (plus the expiring contracts of Brian Scalabrine and J.R. Giddens) to the Wizards in exchange for Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison.

One day later, however, that doesn't seem to be the case.

According to Boston.com, a team source confirmed that the C's did discuss a deal involving Butler, but Jamison was not a part of any proposed transaction.

The source also told Boston.com that head coach Doc Rivers discussed a deal with Bobcats head coach Larry Brown, since Charlotte has plenty of options at point guard but is seeking a center or forward. Charlotte reportedly would have dealt D.J. Augustin to Boston in exchange for Rasheed Wallace.

"There is no truth to either of one of those [rumors]. I have had conversations with a lot of teams but those have never been discussed. There are a lot of things I would like to do but I don't feel a need to do something. I am always looking to upgrade the team, if possible," Ainge told The Boston Globe on Friday.
