The NFL draft isn't coming up anytime soon, but the Patriots are already well on their way to making a wish list, and at the top could be Brandon Graham.

According to WEEI.com, the Michigan defensive end could be a perfect fit for New England, which is expected to target defense with its early picks after it proved to be the team's most pressing need in 2009. The Patriots could select Graham with the No. 22 selection.

In his last two seasons at Michigan, Graham, listed at 6-foot-1 and 263 pounds, registered a total of 20 sacks. He finished his career with 138 tackles, including a career-high 64 in 2009.

"That's a guy with 10 sacks at Michigan last year and 260-some pounds," Football Outsiders writer Mike Tanier told WEEI.com. "He's about the sixth- to 10th-best defensive lineman available this year — that's how deep the draft is. And he's a natural end in the Patriots scheme."

Tanier also told the Web site that this year's draft will be full of "3-4 defensive types," so even if Bill Belichick and the Pats can't land the Wolverine, they still have plenty of other options.
