Super Bowl snow day could be coming to New York in 2014.

According to the New York Daily News, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is in favor of having the Jets' and Giants' new stadium host Super Bowl XLVIII in four years.

"I think the idea of playing in the elements is central to the way the game of football is played," Goodell told the Daily News. "I think being able to do that and celebrate the game of football in the No. 1 market could have tremendous benefits to the league going forward.”

The NFL has waived its cold-weather restriction to allow the Jets' and Giants' Super Bowl 2014 bid. The league will make its decision at the NFL spring meeting of owners in Dallas on May 24-26.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft dislikes the Jets and Giants, but supports a Super Bowl in New York.

"I hope it's there, I hope it snows and I hope the Patriots are in the game," Kraft told the Daily News.

Cities also in the running to hold the big game are Miami, Glendale, Ariz., and either Tampa or Houston.

New York's Super Bowl bid would need 75 percent of the owners' vote (24 of 32) to be successful.

Steelers owner Dan Rooney may vote against the measure.

"There are a lot of people who think we should be in a warm climate all the time," Rooney told the Daily News. "The weather would be something you would have to consider."

Rooney is now the U.S. ambassador to Ireland, so he may leave the voting to his son Art. We'll find out if it leaves New York's Super Bowl bid out in the cold.
