The Nebraska Cornhuskers have gotten safety Corey Cooper to sign his letter of intent, even though he was committed to Illinois since his sophomore year, according to ESPN.com.
Cooper cited changes in the Illini coaching staff as the reason for his change of heart.
"[Nebraska had] everything — fans, coaching, academics, just the place of Lincoln," Cooper said at his new conference, according to ESPN.com. "The place is great. There's no flaws to it. I felt comfortable."
Cooper's high school coach, Aaron Peppers, spoke highly of his former player.
"Nebraska is getting a franchise player," Peppers said. "He's a program changer."
HuskerExtra.com notes that Cooper chose Nebraska over the likes of Notre Dame and Arizona in addition to Illinois.
