A broken left hand won’t keep Shaun Ellis off the practice field this offseason.

According to the New York Post, the Jets’ defensive end expects his broken left hand to heal in time for him to participate in the team’s offseason workouts.

Ellis injured his hand in the first quarter of the team’s divisional playoff game against the Chargers. The 10-year veteran underwent surgery on Feb. 2, two days after making a Pro Bowl appearance in Miami.

The 32-year-old had knee problems during the season as well, but will not undergo any knee surgeries this offseason.

“My knee is fine,” Ellis told the Post. “All that would happen was my knee would swell. It should be a lot better this season, considering I had surgery before workouts and I never had time for it to rest.”

The defensive end recorded 6 1/2 sacks in the 2009 regular season and helped the Jets reach their first AFC title game in 12 years.
