J.D. Drew a Key for Red Sox, While Mike Cameron Will Be Fine The Boston Globe’s Tony Massarotti joined John Chandler in the SportsDesk studio Sunday night to speak on J.D. Drew, Mike Cameron and USA Olympic hockey.

Massarotti feels that Drew must improve this coming year “out of necessity” due to his salary, saying that “if he was making eight to 10 million a year, he would be a non-issue.”

Massarotti said the key to Drew being productive lies in his consistency.

While the news that Mike Cameron will be out a few days has alarmed some, Mazz attempts to soothe fans’ fears. “You almost discount these little tweaks and nagging things out of hand,” Massarotti said. “The first time that anything pops up — the littlest thing — teams will pull the plug on the guy because there’s no reason to rush them.”

Chandler also got Massarotti’s take on the USA-Canada gold-medal game from Vancouver. “It’s impossible not to remain riveted to your TV if you are any fan of competition or sports,” he raved.
