Andy Brickley: ‘General Managers Being Proactive, Finally’

Andy Brickley: 'General Managers Being Proactive, Finally' Despite the fact that Matt Cooke‘s hit on Marc Savard will go unpunished per current league rules, NHL general managers are making strides to produce changes.

On Thursday’s edition of W.B. Mason Bruins Face-Off Live, Mike Milbury and Andy Brickley discussed the league’s decision to more closely enforce punishments for hits to the head.

“I think it’s a start,” Brickley said. “I think that the fact that they’re at least being proactive here, finally, [is good] … but it’s the enforcement of the rule and the penalties and the justice after such contact is made that will really serve as a deterrent to get these players away from targeting heads when they want to make body contact.”
