Who knew the rally monkey liked wearing Snuggies?

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets" during the team’s April 6 home game against the Twins.

All fans attending the game will receive a complimentary Hideki Matsui "Blankie" featuring the outfielder's name and number. Fans will be prompted to wear their fleece blankets for five consecutive minutes during the game, and a Guinness World Records adjudicator will then officially certify the new record.

Angels spokesman Tim Mead feels that the event will give fans an opportunity to be a part of something extraordinary.

"We are very excited about this special opportunity," Mead said. "Setting this world record will be a unique and memorable experience for our fans, the first of many in 2010."

The current record for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets was set by Cleveland Cavaliers fans earlier this month. Angels officials anticipate a sellout crowd of more than 40,000 to attend the game.
