BC's Matt Lombardi Making Third Trip in Four Years to Frozen Four Going to the Frozen Four never gets old.

Boston College senior Matt Lombardi is making his third trip in four years to NCAA hockey’s promised land, yet he isn’t any less hungry for another ring.

“You definitely have to take it in and kind of embrace the opportunity, and how fortunate we are to be headed back again,” Lombardi told NESN’s Jade McCarthy on Tuesday’s edition of SportsDesk. “It definitely doesn’t get old, being the third time — everybody’s still so excited about it, and we have a special group of guys on the team, so we’ve had high expectations to go there again. We’re not really surprised.”

Lombardi — who tallied a hat trick in this year’s Hockey East tournament championship and netted the game-winner in overtime — is cherishing his personal success, but still puts the team ahead of himself.

“I think that’s something I’ll always remember,” Lombardi said. “I think more so, [I’ll remember] just kind of the special feeling we shared as a group, winning the trophy. It’s so hard to do that, and we talked about how competitive Hockey East was this year, and to kind of go through such a long season and to win that trophy is something special.”
