The Bruins have traded a conditional fourth-round draft pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the rights to 21-year-old defenseman Steve Kampfer. General manager Peter Chiarelli announced the move on Tuesday.

Kampfer currently plays for the University of Michigan, where as a senior this year he has notched 17 points in 37 games. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Kampfer was originally drafted by the Ducks in the fourth round of the 2007 draft.

Kampfer is known in college hockey circles for getting hit from behind and slashed while down on the ice by a pair of Michigan State players in January of 2009. The two Spartans were later suspended for the season.
