Bruins Defense Sloppy in Tough Loss to Sabres

Bruins Defense Sloppy in Tough Loss to Sabres Naoko Funayama spoke to analyst James Murphy following the Sabres’ 3-2 defeat of the Bruins on Monday night.

Murphy was critical of Boston’s defense, saying the B’s need “to tighten up if they’re going to go into [New] Jersey and get a win [on Tuesday night].”

The Bruins face the Devils in the tail end of a back-to-back and will have a fierce battle on their hands.

One downfall of the Bruins in the Sabres game was the lack of power-play chances after succeeding wildly on Saturday against the Calgary Flames.

“Maybe they felt a little too comfortable on the power play,” Murphy theorized. “They went back a little to getting too fancy. They have to go out there against Jersey and if they see an opening on the net, get it in there.

“They need to toughen up against the better teams in the conference.”
