The Bruins have re-assigned goaltender Matt Dalton to the Reading Royals of the East Coast Hockey League, general manager Peter Chiarelli announced Monday.

Dalton, 23, was recalled on an emergency basis on Feb. 24 to practice with the team while Tim Thomas was in Vancouver competing for the U.S. in the Olympics.

In 36 appearances with Reading, Dalton has posted a 16-18-2 record with a .905 save percentage and 3.54 goals-against average. He’s also made four starts for the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins, going 0-4-0 with an .889 save percentage and 3.98 GAA.

The Bruins signed Dalton as a free agent in April following his sophomore season at Bemidji State University. Dalton’s 2.29 career GAA there is a school record, and he helped lead the underdog Beavers to last year’s Frozen Four.
