Canadian Doctor Anthony Galea Says He Treated Alex Rodriguez TORONTO — A sports doctor under investigation in Canada and the United States says he treated Alex Rodriguez after the Yankees slugger had hip surgery last year, but he only prescribed anti-inflammatories.

Rodriguez and other high profile baseball players have been contacted by U.S. federal investigators regarding Dr. Anthony Galea. Rodriguez said last week he was "aware" of the investigation and plans to cooperate with the government.

Galea faces drug charges in Canada and his assistant was stopped last year trying to bring human growth hormone over the border into New York state.

Galea told The Associated Press on Monday that he treated the Yankees star for his hip, which was "inflamed." But Galea says he has never given HGH to any athlete and Rodriguez was given anti-inflammatories.
