Clay Buchholz Shakes Off Poor Start, Red Sox Beat Twins 11-5 Clay Buchholz had a poor start to his outing Sunday before recovering to pace the Red Sox to a 11-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins Sunday.

Buchholz pitched 4 2/3 innings, whiffing seven without issuing a walk despite giving up four earned runs. David Ortiz and Tug Hulett had his back with each cranking a three-run home run.

“[Buchholz] made some good adjustments,” said manager Terry Francona. “He started driving the fastball down, which sets up all his pitches.”

Buchholz agreed, saying it “was definitely a step in the right direction for this season and my confidence also.”
