Shawn Bradley may no longer be starring in the NBA or movies like Space Jam, but the 7-foot-6 former center is hoping to stand out in a different way this November.

The Stormin’ Mormon is hoping to get elected.

Bradley’s campaign isn’t quite on the same scope as former Knick and New Jersey senator Bill Bradley’s failed attempt to land in the White House, but Shawn Bradley’s bid for a seat in the Utah House of Representatives is one he hopes can have a positive impact.

"This is something that I have thought about for a long time," Bradley told the Deseret News. "But I had to be in the state for three years to qualify. Because I have been out of the state playing basketball, I only recently qualified. I've always been interested in politics, and I would like to make a difference in people's lives."

Bradley has already made a difference in many peoples’ lives. He has a long history of charitable work, donating $25 for every block he had in the 2000-01 season to Bryan’s House, a facility for children affected by HIV and AIDS. He also is the national spokesman for the Children’s Miracle Network and took part of the “Basketball Without Borders” program in Africa.
