Jason Varitek, David Ortiz, Tim Wakefield, Jonathan Papelbon Star in First of Red Sox Commercial Series We all have that one friend who claims to be a die-hard Yankees fan.

Chances are, said fan has been riding you all offseason about how great his or her beloved Bronx Bombers are and how bad your Red Sox have been and forever will be.

Ever wonder what it would be like if four of the roughest, toughest, most beloved Red Sox players were present when a verbal Red Sox bashing took place?

Well, you're in luck because the Red Sox and NESN have used that particular scenario as the plot for one of their new series of commercials, which will air all season called "The Nation Lives."

"Over the last two years through our advertising and branding campaign, 'Here', we explored the history of Fenway Park and the passion of Red Sox Nation. As we planned for 2010, we surveyed the landscape and saw an opportunity to have some fun with both the newcomers to our team and the incredible veterans our fans have grown to know and love," said Sam Kennedy, Red Sox executive vice president and COO. "From the outset, the response from the players and coaches has been tremendous and we look forward to working with them on more commercial shoots this season. Thanks to the team and our partners at NESN and Conover Tuttle Pace for coming together and making this collaborative process a success."

Other commercials include Red Sox play-by-play man Don Orsillo trying to offer newcomer John Lackey some help with driving directions around Boston.

"This season, the Red Sox and NESN made a real commitment to collaborate on advertising and branding. Working together provides us with the ability to extend a consistent message to both the Red Sox fan base and our NESN audience," said Rick Booth, NESN director of creative services. "Our objective in developing the campaign was to express the personality of the team, enabling our audiences to connect with the players on a more personal level and experience them in a different light."
