Mark Philippoussis, Jim Courier to Compete With Fans in Wii Tennis Challenge Need an excuse to rock your retro 1970s headbands and tennis shoes? Look no further.

Fans are encouraged to dress up in authentic throwback gear for an opportunity to challenge Tennis Hall of Famer Jim Courier and tennis pro and Age of Love reality star Mark Philippoussis in an interactive Wii Tennis Challenge on April 28 at 2 p.m. at Staples in Needham, Mass. The tennis legends also will face off against local celebrities and television and radio personalities.

The interactive competition will be a warmup for the main event. After shedding the tube socks and video game equipment, Courier and Philippoussis will pick up their real rackets for the Staples Championship Cup — a single-elimination tournament at Boston University's Agganis Arena from April 29 to May 2. Other big names scheduled to play include Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Mikael Pernfors, Jimmy Arias and Wayne Ferreira.

The Champion Series began in 2005 and has featured top tennis contenders from the past 25 years. To be eligible, the player must have been ranked in the top five in the world, played in a major singles final or played singles on a championship Davis Cup team. Each event features $150,000 in prize money and Champions Series ranking points that will determine the No. 1 player at the end of the year.

Tickets for the Staples Champions Cup are available online or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.
