Terrapins senior guard Greivis Vasquez was named ACC Player of the Year, while head coach Gary Williams was named ACC Coach of the Year, according to the Washington Post.
The Terps finished this season with a 23-7 record, and despite earning a share of the regular season title, they will receive the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament (Duke wins the tiebreaker).
Vasquez received 39 of 53 votes and becomes the first Maryland player to win the award since Juan Dixon took it home in 2002, the year the Terps won the national championship. Vasquez averaged 19.6 points, 6.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game in 2009-10, and he is the only player in the nation to average at least 18 points and six assists per game.
"I don't play because I want to break records and I want to make history," Vasquez told the Post. "I just play to win basketball games. That's the most important thing to me."
Vasquez is also the only player in ACC history to finish his career with at least 2,000 points, 700 assists and 600 rebounds.
Duke's Jon Scheyer received 12 votes and Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney received two.
Williams led the Terps to an undefeated home record in ACC play. He received 42 of 53 votes, while Duke's Mike Krzyzewski received eight, Virginia Tech's Seth Greenberg received two and FSU's Leonard Hamilton received one.
Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors was named the ACC Freshman of the Year.
