The Nets need just two wins in their final nine games to escape the indignation of being labeled the worst team ever. That has stopped some fans from hiding their head under paper bags in protest, but Nets CEO Brett Yormark is now ready to sit down and talk about it.
Yormark confronted Net’s fan Chris Lisi about his brown-paper headgear at the Nets’ March 22 loss to the Heat, but, according to NJ.com, the two now will sit down over lunch to discuss the issue. Nets radio broadcasters Chris Carrino and Tim Capstraw will be joining the festivities, which the Web site reports will be brown-bag style cuisine.
After the fact, Yormark was defensive about his actions, thanking fan support — excluding Lisi — and saying he will continue to stand up for his team.
The confrontation may have put a bit of fire into the Nets. After Yormark’s tirade, the Nets reeled off back-to-back wins, putting them in range of merely a woefully horrific season, as opposed to an historically pitiful one.
Bets are on Yormark to be slightly more subdued during the sit-down and discuss a potentially bright future for the team. Among the talking points Lisi will be sure to hear about are the oodles of cap space available for one of the best free-agent crops of all time, the best chance in the league to land the team’s pick of John Wall and Evan Turner, and potential owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s vow to bring the team to the top of the NBA.
