Hopkinton (Mass.) high school students dressed up as superheroes on March 21, but they also saw some of their Patriots heroes as well.

Julian Edelman, Pierre Woods and Matthew Slater joined Miss Massachusetts Lacey Wilson and Miss Teen Massachusetts Brooke Bibeault for the second annual Friendship Relay, the Boston Herald reports. The event benefits Best Buddies Massachusetts, an organization that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Woods served as the event's honorary chairman, and made the most of the opportunity.

"Today is superhero day," Woods told the Herald. "They look at us like we're some superheroes. You give them an opportunity to be a superhero for the day, it just brings joy to their heart."

The Patriots players reportedly did not wear superhero outfits, but they did join children in singing and dancing to several hit songs, including Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and Kesha's "Tik-Tok," the Herald reports.

The veteran linebacker appreciated Edelman’s and Slater’s efforts at the event.

"Sometimes, a lot of guys don't really get into working with these kids," Woods said. "These kids are something different, something special. We're blessed to be able to have all of our God-given talents and abilities, and they're the same way."

Slater enjoyed participating in the event.

"I've always been active in my church at home, and when Pierre mentioned it, I jumped on it," Slater said. "We've been given such a great platform to be able to give back. To have teammates that have a heart and have a passion for it, it's an honor to be part of."
