Bodden was an unrestricted free agent after joining the Patriots prior to the 2009 season. He was coming off a poor year for the Detroit Lions after gathering a reputation as a strong player.
Bodden rebounded in 2009 in New England, where he nabbed five interceptions, erasing fans' memories of Asante Samuel. He also registered 55 combined tackles in 15 games.
The seven-year veteran had visited the Houston Texans on Sunday, and it appeared to come down to the two teams vying for his services. After declaring he would not sign a hometown discount for the Pats, Bodden found the free-agent market not to his liking, seeing his price drop. Apparently, it dropped to a price the Patriots liked.
Terms of the deal are currently unknown, though Bodden earned $2.25 million in 2009.
