A year after declining an invitation to appear on The Today Show following his Stanley Cup win, Pittsburgh Penguins captain and arguably the face of the National Hockey League Sidney Crosby told the Late Show With David Letterman that he was too busy to make an appearance on the CBS program.
The Golden Boy, once again, blew a golden opportunity to give the NHL some much-needed exposure, fresh off the heels of a thrilling Olympic hockey tournament.
So the No. 1 excuse Crosby used to skip out on Letterman was … (drum roll, please):
"His schedule was full," Crosby's agent Pat Brisson, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday night.
The New York Post reported on Sunday that Crosby declined the invitation to read Letterman's nightly Top Ten list. Crosby was in town to take on the Rangers at the time of the scheduled spot.
"I talk to the league on a regular basis, and the league couldn't be more thrilled having Sidney Crosby do all the stuff he does," Brisson said.
Crosby was invited to present the Top Ten List on Letterman's show when the Penguins were in New York on March 4 to play the Rangers. This isn't the first time Letterman has been denied by Sid the Kid, as Crosby declined a spot last fall, as well.
