Report: Bruins Expected to Sign Former First-Round Pick Joe Colborne

The Bruins are expected to sign University of Denver sophomore forward Joe Colborne, according to the Denver Post. The B’s drafted Colborne in the first round (16th overall) of the 2008 draft.

The 6-foot-5 power forward led Denver with 22 goals this season and finished tied for second with 41 points. Colborne and the Pioneers won the WCHA regular-season title and entered the NCAA Tournament ranked second in the country, but they were upset in the first round by RIT.

Colborne’s 22 goals put him in a 10th-place tie nationally. He also tied for first in the country with eight game-winning goals and tied for sixth with 11 power-play goals.
