Sammy Morris played with Josh Reed with the Buffalo Bills for two seasons, and the Patriots' running back thinks the free-agent wide receiver could have a tremendous impact in New England’s offense, the Boston Herald reports.
"I know Josh well," Morris told the Herald. "He'd be really big for our team. He's a tough guy."
The Patriots hosted Reed for a visit earlier this month, but the wideout left New England without a contract.
The Patriots need more depth at receiver, and a combination of Reed, Julian Edelman and David Patten could help replace Wes Welker's production as New England’s No. 2 receiver. In addition, the eight-year veteran could provide leadership on offense.
Morris wants his former Bills teammate to join him in New England, but understands his words will have a minimal impact on Reed’s decision.
"It's not a matter of talking to him," Morris said. "It's really just a matter of getting things worked out."
