Aerosmith, J. Geils Band to Play Fenway Park on Aug. 14During Wednesday’s Red Sox-Yankees game, the Red Sox announced that Aerosmith and the J. Geils Band will perform at Fenway Park on Sunday, August 14 — the first time ever both bands will perform on stage together.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m.

Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and Peter Wolf representing the J. Geils Band appeared in the booth alongside Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo in the bottom of the fourth to announce the event.

Wolf noted that he recently released a solo album titled Midnight Souvenirs, but he will appear at Fenway alongside his J. Geils bandmates. “We’re going to have a good time,” the lead vocalist said.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 17, at 10 a.m. online at livenation.com and by phone at (800) 514-3849. Tickets are also available for purchase Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre Box office. Ticket prices start at $55.

The J. Geils Band was formed in 1967 and hails from Worcester, Mass. The band has broken up several times. Most recently on Jan. 23, Wolf said that the band was basically finished.

Looks like the J. Geils Band will live to see another concert after all.

Aerosmith was originally formed in Boston in 1970 and has since become one of the most successful and influential rock bands in music.

Tyler, Aerosmith’s lead singer, recently performed “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch of the Red Sox’ home opener Sunday, along with his daughter Chelsea.

“It was a moment to be reckoned with,” crowed Tyler.

Another moment to be reckoned with will be on Aug. 14, when the two iconic bands team up for a performance to be remembered.

“If it’s rock and roll, we’ve got it,” Wolf said.
