April Fools or Groundhog Day for Mets Shortstop Jose Reyes? The only thing Mets fans can be thinking when they wake up on April Fools’ Day: “This has to be a joke, right?”

Sadly, it is not, as Jose Reyes and David Murphy are both headed to the disabled list, according to ESPN.com.

Yes, despite the progress of “sliding headfirst” and “playing three innings in the field,” it appears as though Reyes, who played in just 36 games last year, won’t be ready for the season. One day, the injuries have to stop for the Mets, but that day is not April 1.
