The Boston College athletic department has issued a statement regarding the weekend crash between a vehicle carrying three of the school’s hockey players and an MBTA trolley.

"We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the incident that occurred Sunday morning. We are thankful that the injured students are recovering and that the driver of the vehicle that was struck by the MBTA trolley had not been drinking before the incident," the statement said.

“At this stage, contrary to reports, no one has been charged. As is our policy, we will wait until the investigations are concluded before announcing possible disciplinary actions.”

The three freshman players – goaltender Patrick Milner and defensemen Philip Samuelsson and Patrick Wey – were members of Boston College’s national championship team.  They were riding in a Jeep driven by Jane Stanton, 19, at the time of the crash, which occurred at the corner of South and Commonwealth Avenues.
