Chad Ochocinco, Jets' David Clowney Voice Displeasure with Santonio Holmes Trade Santonio Holmes‘ trade to the Jets for 50 cents on the dollar has sent shockwaves through the football landscape. Most Jets fans and players are ecstatic with the move and the mounting talk of a championship. Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis even tweeted, “Wow we got holmes this is crazy. We makin big moves this off-season. Putting the pieces together to get closer to that superbowl ring.” Some other players — even within the organization — were slightly less pleased.

While Revis only has to compete against Holmes in practice, wide receiver David Clowney will be forced to vie with Holmes for playing time and possibly even a roster spot. With Braylon Edwards, Jerricho Cotchery, Brad Smith and now Holmes locked in above Clowney on the depth chart, the writing could be on the wall for the three-year vet’s exit. Seeing it himself, the Virginia Tech product tweeted following the trade to say, “Lord what am I doing wrong.”

Shortly after the first tweet, Clowney — who has just 15 regular-season receptions in his career despite tearing up the preseason every August — was slightly more composed and ready to face the challenge [sic].

“I know this is a test,.. But God never puts you thru anything you can’t handle. I trust you Lord”

The Jets will likely keep five or six wideouts on the roster, but Clowney’s primary role is to be a “burner” who can stretch the defense. With the trades for Edwards last season and for Holmes on Sunday night, the Jets now have enough speed on their roster to make Clowney expendable. If the Jets keep just five receivers, Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum could prefer to use the extra spot on a special-teams ace to replace Wallace Wright, who departed to Carolina.

While Clowney decided to voice his frustration to a higher power, Chad Ochocinco appealed to a different authority to voice a complaint. The unofficial king of Twitter among NFL players turned to commissioner Roger Goodell with his beef.

“@nflcommish Mr. Goodell the NY Jets are unfairly loading their team up with great players like the Yankees do, we need to stop this now!” Ochocinco wrote after hearing the news.

Gang green has yet to hit the field for training camp and the “break up the Jets” bandwagon is already gaining steam. It’s starting to look like a hard-knock life after all.
